During April 5th to 7th 2016, the 2nd Oriental Design Forum and the 2016 International Symposium on Oriental Culture and Design Philosophy were held in the Minhang Campus of Shanghai Jiao Tong University. The opening ceremony was held in the morning of the 6th which was hosted by Professor Li Bengan, Dean of the School of Media and Design. Zhang Jie, the president of Shanghai Jiao Tong University and a member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences were attended the opening ceremony of the conference and made a keynote speech on "Design, Science and Art Marriage". Participants revolved around the Oriental Design Concept System, Traditional Culture and Oriental Design, Contemporary Design Frontier Issues, East-West Design Comparison, Shanghai Oriental Design Capital Construction, Designer and Design Education, Internet and Design, Design Company Management, and Art, Design and The frontier topics such as science and technology have been heatedly discussed, and 26 excellent academic papers have been selected from the accepted papers. In addition to international conferences, the following events were held during the forum: the establishment and appointment of the International Expert Committee for Design Disciplines, the Inauguration Ceremony of the International Design Association Science and Art Committee, the Inauguration Ceremony of the China Industrial Design Association Information Design Research Center, and the Frontiers of Design Theory and Practice.
